Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at vweaglellc@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Victoria White Eagle LLC  was founded in 1998. Back in 1991 I had a severe health crisis and spent many days in bed. I've always been able to talk to spirit through dream. My spirit guides

told me a teacher would come to guide and teach me the what I needed to know. I finally meet my first teacher and she helped me understand the Cherokee way of being. I learned to connect to the earth through plants, crystals and to except who I was.

I started studying herbs and Reiki. In 1996 I graduated and became Certified in Karuna Reiki Master.

In 1998 I open my first store and started offering my handmade product to the public. In 2017 I registered as a LLC.

Victoria White Eagle LLC  offers a variety of candles such as soy candles, beeswax candles, and aromatherapy candles.

Energy healing can help to reduce stress, alleviate pain, improve sleep, boost immunity, and promote overall well-being.

Smudging with sage is a traditional ritual, originating with Indigenous peoples of the Americas, that involves burning dried sage to create smoke used for spiritual cleansing, purification, and to clear negative energy from a person, space, or object, often accompanied by intention-setting or prayer to invite positive energy and balance. While a simple act of burning sage, true smudging is a specific ceremonial practice with deep cultural roots, though its techniques are adopted by others for similar purposes of energy clearing.

Smudging with sage primarily offers energy cleansing, mood improvement, and spiritual connection, traditionally removing negative energy, promoting calm, and enhancing focus for meditation, with some traditional beliefs and potential antimicrobial effects also cited for purifying air, though scientific backing varies. Key benefits include clearing negative vibes from spaces and people, reducing stress, uplifting spirits, and creating a more positive, mindful atmosphere.

  Key aspects of smudging:

  • Purpose: To purify, cleanse, and bless, dispelling negativity and inviting positive energy, focus, and healing.
  • The Herb: White sage (Artemisia) is common, but cedar, sweetgrass, and other herbs are also used.
  • The Process: Dried sage bundles (smudge sticks) are lit, allowed to smolder, and the smoke is fanned with a hand or feather around a space or person, moving from corners to doorways, focusing on releasing negative energy.
  • Intention: A clear intention or prayer is crucial, stating what energy needs to be released and what should be welcomed in.
  • Clarity: Smudging yourself with sage brings clarity to the mind by bringing us back into our bodies, it's almost as if it breaks illusions of the mind.

 Preparation

  • Open a window to provide ventilation and a path for negative energy and smoke to exit.
  • Set an intention by taking a moment to decide what negativity you want to release or what positive energy you want to invite in (e.g., "I cleanse myself of any negativity and heaviness").
  • Tie back long hair and wear non-baggy clothing for safety.

Step-by-Step Smudging Process

  1. Light the smudge stick: Hold the stick at a 45-degree angle and light the tip with a match or lighter.
  2. Extinguish the flame: Let it burn for a few moments, then gently blow out the flame so the material smolders and produces smoke. Avoid blowing directly on the sage as some traditions believe it can blow your spirit away; use a gentle wafting motion instead.
  3. Waft the smoke over your body: Use your hand or a feather to guide the smoke toward you. Start at your feet and work your way up to your head, ensuring all areas of your body are covered by the smoke.
    • Focus on key areas with specific intentions, such as over your heart for emotional cleansing, your hands as if washing them, and around your head to clear thoughts.
    • Repeat your chosen mantra or prayer as you do this.

  1. Continue until you feel a shift: The process is complete when you feel a sense of lightness or a positive shift in your mood.
  2. Extinguish safely: Press the burning tip of the smudge stick firmly into your fireproof container, dirt, or sand until the smoke stops completely. Do not use water to extinguish it, as this can make it difficult to relight later.
  3. Give thanks: Thank your guides or the "Great Spirit" for assisting in the clearing process.

Remember to always prioritize safety and never leave a burning smudge stick unattended. The practice is personal, so listen to your intuition regarding how often you should smudge.

 Materials Needed

  • A heat-proof bowl or dish: An abalone shell is traditional in Indigenous smudging, but a ceramic bowl works well for a general smoke cleanse.
  • Your chosen herbs or incense: Avoid white sage or palo santo if you are not Indigenous, as these are sacred medicines to specific cultures. Alternatives include:
    • Lavender
    • Cedar or pine
    • Rosemary or other garden herbs
    • Copal resin (used in Central American traditions)
  • A flame source: A lighter or match.
  • A fanning tool (optional): A large feather or your hand to direct the smoke.

Steps for Cleansing Another Person

  1. Set Intention: Before you begin, have a clear, positive intention in mind for the person's well-being, such as releasing stress, inviting clarity, or offering protection. This intention is central to the practice.
  2. Prepare the Space: Ensure a window or door is open to allow the smoke (and the energy you are releasing) to exit the space.
  3. Light the Herb/Incense: Hold your chosen material at a 45-degree angle and light it until it catches fire. Let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame so that the material is smoldering and producing smoke. Place the smoldering material in your heat-proof bowl.
  4. Guide the Smoke: Approach the person and use your hand or a feather to gently waft the smoke around their body. The general procedure is to move the smoke over key areas:
    • Start at the head/mind (for good thoughts/clarity).
    • Move down over the eyes (to see good in others) and ears (to hear good things).
    • Waft across the mouth (to speak well), heart (to purify emotions), and the rest of their torso.
    • Continue down to their hands and feet (to walk a good path).
    • Ask the person to turn around and waft smoke along their back.

  1. Focus on Energy Centers: When cleansing others, some suggest moving the smoke in a counterclockwise direction over energy centers to release unwanted energy.
  2. Extinguish Safely: Once finished, press the smoldering end firmly into the dirt, sand, or the bottom of your heat-proof bowl until it is completely out. Do not use water to extinguish it, as this can make it difficult to light the next time.
